Effect of cooling and of smoking tobacco upon the blood flow of reactive hyperemia of the foot.

چکیده
Tobacco smoking and body cooling have been shown to decrease the "resting" blood flow to the foot. The present study was designed to determine whether either of these (2 stimuli also affects the increased blood flow that follows a period of ischemia (reactive hyperemia). Blood flows to the foot were measured in subjects with and without vascular disease by the venous occlusion, water plethysmographic method in a warm and a cool environment before and during smoking. Patients with bilaterally and unilaterally sympathectomized limbs were also studied to determine the mechanism of the observed

متن کاملBlood Flow in the Human Calf during Tobacco Smoking.
THE cutaneous vasoconstrictive effect of tobacco smoking has been demonstrated by several groups.1-4 In about 50 per celit of people, smoking has been reported to diminish the increase in foot blood flow, called reactive hyperemia, which follows a period of arterial occlusion. Experiments on patients with sympathectomized limbs showed that the decrease in reactive hyperemia was mediated through...
متن کاملبررسی تأثیر Vacuum-Compression Therapy (VCT) بر جریان خون اندام دیابتی
Background: Chronic diabetes is substantially associated with circulatory disorders in lower limbs. Vacuum-Compression Therapy (VCT) has been commonly used in treatment of peripheral circulatory disorders. VCT is based on intermittent alteration of Positive- Negative pressure phases. The purpose of this study was to determine effects of VCT on diabetic subjects' peripheral blood flow. Methods: I...
متن کاملInherent Irreversibility of Exothermic Chemical Reactive Third-Grade Poiseuille Flow of a Variable Viscosity with Convective Cooling
In this study, the analysis of inherent irreversibility of chemical reactive third-grade poiseuille flow of a variable viscosity with convective cooling is investigated. The dissipative heat in a reactive exothermic chemical moves over liquid in an irreversible way and the entropy is produced unceasingly in the system within the fixed walls. The heat convective exchange with the surrounding tem...
متن کاملThe Effect of Aerobic Training with and without Blood Flow Restriction on the Length and Balance of Women with Multiple Sclerosis
Abstract Background & aim: Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease which damages the central nervous system. Disruption of walking is one of the characteristics of multiple sclerosis. Currently, exercise training is known as an effective tool in the rehabilitation of multiple sclerosis. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect(s) of aerobic training with/without blood flow r...
